Objects within the landscape draw me towards them. An abandoned car weathering and decaying from the impact of time. Heat, water, wind and fire taking their toll, etching and tattooing surfaces to leave a patina of abstracted marks, patterns and colours. Isolated and lonely, expunged of its history, it waits to be resurrected by the gaze of the camera.
My work explores the interface between photography and sculpture, challenging our traditional concept of the photographic image as a flat plane. Using handmade washi paper, I gently mould my abstract images into new forms exploring the inner tension between the scientist and creative within me.
Mounted on a pedestal, the resulting object reveals new perspectives and viewpoints as you circle. Abandoned cars resurrected into cubist forms rising up from the flat plane of the earth.
I am an Australian based landscape photographer, exploring my surroundings for abstract images to transform into photosculptures and other photographic artefacts. I am currently studying for MA Photography at the University of Falmouth, England.
